Brotherly Love - Transference of the Penalty

This is from an upcoming scene in my epic, "The Greenhouse of New Beginnings." Dimitri (Shinx) has broken the law by eating food that wasn't his, and the law is that he should die for it. His friend, Roy (Rattata), is devastated by this. He wants to clean up Dimitri's face of the stains, but he can't find anything to wipe his face with. He hears someone coming, and he realizes that the only way he could help his friend is if he wipes off the stains with his own arm, and that would mean he would have to take on the harsh penalty meant for Dimitri. However, he is happy to do this because he really cares about him as though he were his little brother; notice that he even smeared some of it around his mouth to make it look like he committed the offense. (This is still early in the epic though, Roy will end up living through this, but he doesn't know it yet).

This scene is inspired by the Gospel of Jesus Christ (that was probably obvious). He took upon Himself our own sins and death penalty so that we could live. One thing that's different though is that while the king in the story is unreasonable and harsh, God in the Bible is reasonable, merciful, and just, giving us all time to turn from our sins and to Him for forgiveness.

"...This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends..." - Jn 15:12-13

"For He hath made Him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him." - 2 Cor 5:21
