The next major event to take place in "Dark Autumn Nights" since my last journal entry about it is the death of Ariela's helper and close friend, Lydia (an Espeon) on 11/11/14. Sadly, she gets killed at the end of chapter 15 from falling from a distance of about seventy feet off a cliff to the ground. She was suspended on a rope that was about ready to snap, and Ariela tried her hardest to help her back up. The rope broke before Ariela could pull her up, and she had to watch Lydia helplessly fall to her demise. In this scene, on the morning of the next day, she plays the scene over and over again, unable to move past it. She blames herself for it, even though she's only an Eevee and would've had no chance of pulling her Espeon friend up to safety. She also thinks about the passage in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 because it gives her hope that she will see her friend again at the rapture; that one promise reminds her that God has a plan to catch away all His saints in the future. The passage is about the imminent return of Christ, and the blessed hope of His appearing.
(The timing of "Dark Autumn Nights" goes up to the early morning of 11/18/14, so it's already over, but I have yet to reveal how it ends.)
